Finnish Pavilion

Architect: Eliel Saarinen. Built: 1900.

The Finnish Pavillion at the 1900 Paris World Fair has been recreated digitally by the Media Lab at the University of Art and Design Helsinki (TaiK). The original pavilion was a significant national push that brought together the efforts of the most recognized Finnish artists and designers of the time, with the intention of portraying Finland as an independent, modern and European nation. Eliel Saarinen was the main architect of the building. Albert Edelfelt, Axel Gallén and Pekka Halonen, to name a few, were among the artists that contributed to the project.
